History of the Playmobil train

Playmobil launched its train in 1980, in collaboration with the also German Lehmann-Groß-Bahn (LGB), which is dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of garden trains.

These trains had tracks with metal rails on which they were electrically powered by means of a transformer plugged into the electrical power supply.

In 1997 Playmobil introduced its radio-controlled trains with plastic tracks and batteries, to eliminate the danger that the electric current could pose to children.

At present there are almost 200 references related to the Playmobil train, including about 40 different wagons.
